CLASS information

This is a fun class while simultaneously increasing their coordination, fine motor and socialization skills.

The teachers do lots of different fun things each week to keep them interested, mime, ballet, fairies, princesses, acrobatics and so much more.

For terms 1,2 and 3 we invite parents to stay in the studio with their children. By then we expect both the students and the parents to be comfortable with their surroundings and teacher. This also helps with the progression from fairytales to tiny tots where parents do not stay in the room. In the 4th term, we will work on an end-of-year display at the studio where we invite special friends and family to view the children’s hard work and progress throughout the year.

WHAT TO WEAR

A fairy tutu or leggings and a top and bare feet. If hair is long tie back in a ponytail. If you wish to purchase dance gear that is completely up to you.

Tiny tots classes are aimed 3-4yrs old (pre-school). The most important thing we would like your child to get out of their class is to have fun whilst at the same time helping build self-confidence, fine motor skills, socialization and so much more.

The class is a combination of tap (15 minutes ) ballet and jazz (30 minutes ). You can do 45 minutes or 30 minutes. Students are taught dance in a fun way with loads of different activities. Some will be done weekly, especially in tap but there will always be loads of variety e.g. fairies, going to the beach, princesses, obstacle courses and so much more.

Parents stay in for the trial class and then after that, they wait in reception. Students will come out to change shoes to do tap. We find we can progress so much more without students running to their parents, no siblings and no extra chatter. If your child is shy we can do weaning, where you stay less and less each week in the studio but the sooner we have them on their own the smoother it all becomes.

Tiny tots get the opportunity to participate in the end-of-year production if you wish.

WHAT TO WEAR

For your trial class wear a fairy tutu or leggings and a top. Bare feet for jazz and ballet and a smooth-soled pair of shoes for tap and hair in a ponytail if long.

The students are required to wear a uniform ( ballet pink ), ballet shoes and tap shoes once they settle. You can purchase the leotard at Danceart, KMart, Best and Less but footwear is best purchased through Danceart in Croydon.

Students are offered exams from 6-7yrs of and in our end-of-year production.
